November 2009

Right on schedule, the weather has turned cold as the calendar turned to November this past weekend. We've switched over to using the heater in our school building and all of the warm clothing is coming back out. The longer I spend here in Korea, the more I realize I truly am a Texas girl: I enjoy the initial briskness of winter, but within another month or so, I'll be ready to have warm weather back!

November brings a flurry of activities at school. Christmas program rehearsals begin in earnest, consuming all of my time and energy. Basketball season has begun this week, as well. Currently, the number of girls outnumbers the boys on our teams - a rare occurrence for us! Next week is our annual Family Gathering where the staff from the three NICS schools here in Korea get together for a day of professional development and fellowship.

The most significant activity will be over Thanksgiving weekend. As I've mentioned in previous posts, we are taking a quick trip to the Philippines to help with flood relief work. Our group is about 17 people total, with students and teachers being roughly even in number. After some work, we were finally able to obtain tickets for all of us, and we will be leaving November 24.

Please pray for us as we go to Manila to help out where we are able. Pray for safety and group unity, as well as opportunities to share the Gospel and servants' hearts as we work. Also, please pray for the health of our school as a whole. We've had many people out with illness over the last couple of weeks, including myself. I just can't seem to get rid of whatever I have.... Lastly, please continue to pray that we will find favor with the Korean government and be granted our certification so that we can continue to exist as a school. But most of all, please pray that God would be glorified in whatever the outcome is, and that we will trust Him for the future.

Thank you for your prayers and your support. You are a vital part of our ministry here!
